Decibel Architecture were engaged in 2025 to design and masterplan a three-part beachfront hotel precinct at Bai Dat Do on Phu Quoc’s stunning south-western edge. Comprising Conrad, Hilton and DoubleTree, the project forms part of a broader national initiative preparing the island for APEC 2027. 
At its core, the project required the coordination of three distinct global hotel brands within a single, high-performance precinct—balancing identity, operational clarity and shared infrastructure across a complex coastal site.
Our approach establishes a clear masterplan framework that integrates guest, service and operational flows while maintaining distinct architectural identities for each hotel. Movement, access and back-of-house systems are resolved at a precinct scale, ensuring the development operates as a cohesive whole rather than three isolated assets. 
This level of coordination underpins the guest experience. Arrival sequences, public interfaces and vertical circulation are carefully structured, allowing each hotel to function independently while benefiting from shared amenity and infrastructure. Across the precinct, elevated landscape, integrated circulation and programmed public spaces create continuity without compromising brand distinction. 
A site wide two storey basement consolidates delivery and waste streams, with clarity to kitchen support, staff amenities and on site laundry and engineering services. The basement enables efficient operations and support to the distinct brands above.
The podium of the Double Tree and Hilton are combined, with common amenities including a 1200m2 ballroom, playful pool decks, all day dining, spa’s and wellness facilities. Roof top gardens, innovative swimming pool design and integrated MICE function spaces create a thriving and successful operational calendar. A focus on Family Leisure drives the playful colours, spaces and landscapes within the Hilton, and Sky Gardens articulate the overall collection of colourful latices defining the Architectural expression.
At the centre of the precinct, the Hilton draws from the density and energy of Phu Quoc’s market culture. A series of interwoven volumes are stacked and recessed to create a porous, socially active core. This layered massing generates large communal spaces while maintaining clear circulation and operational logic. The result is a building that supports both high guest volumes and varied programme, without sacrificing legibility or control. 
DoubleTree completes the precinct, anchoring the site with its 39 storey guest floor tower, and developing the Hilton’s architectural language and expression. Referencing local lattice traditions, and the verdant tropical fruits of the island, the towers frame the rich internal landscape, opening up to the solar access from south, and revealing internal pools and landscaped recreations spaces. The contiguous Hilton and Double Tree towers balance privacy and exposure, contributing to the overall coherence of the precinct while maintaining their distinct identities.
The Conrad podium utilises the same architectural language, but introduces the curved forms of the inspirational Mother of Pearl. Forms and building lines curve and shift, with flow and circulation driving the interior planning. Restaurants, bars, executive spaces and iconic wellness and spa facilities off a higher level of sophistication reflective of the Conrad’s brand status. 
The Conrad anchors the development on the main corner, with a sweeping and subtle curve creating an iconic and powerful form that addresses the western ocean. Expressing its fluid form in both plan and elevation, the horizontal blades articulate an elegant guestroom matrix, with generous rooms and maximised ocean outlook. The Conrad has a refined architectural language driven by luxury and ocean outlook. The tower form rises clearly above the articulated podium, with iconic cantilevered pools pressing through the Podium colonnade, radially splayed and creating discrete, individual pools for soaking in the views and sun. 
The ordered and regular podium façade is here curved, fluid and formed by water and wind, encapsulating a layered composition that reveals the projects internal organisation. Guest rooms are oriented to maximise aspect, with the majority enjoying direct ocean views and the remainder overlooking lush internal landscaped gardens. The building’s form integrates cantilevered pools and external spaces, resolving structure, amenity and outlook into a coherent system.
Across all three hotels, architectural expression is tied directly to performance and the clarity of the story of place. Elevated cascading landscapes house playful and sophisticated pool decks, iconic rooftop bars and restaurants are accessed by iconic glazed express elevators, bringing performance and spectacle to the scenic journeys, and highlighting the customer experience not simply the architectural merit. 
The comprehensive and extremely rapid delivery of this integrated project demonstrates Decibel’s ability to lead complex, multi-asset developments—aligning global brand requirements, operational systems, incredibly compact timelines and site constraints into a clear, buildable outcome. 
This is design as delivery: shaping large-scale environments that are both ambitious and controlled, and capable of performing to an international standard.
